The Civil Service Commission of the City of Oregon will conduct an examination in the cafeteria at Clay High School, 5665 Seaman Road, Oregon, Ohio, on Saturday, February 14, 2009, for Dispatcher at 10:00 am.

Applicants must live within 10 miles of the City limits within one year of hire and must be 21 years of age at appointment.  A post hire/pre-employment physical examination and a high school diploma or GED required—GED certificate, if applicable, must be presented with application.  For additional duties and responsibilities as set forth in City ordinances, see official announcement posted in City offices.

Summaries and qualifications are:  Under general supervision, performs duties in dispatching police, fire, EMS personnel and other personnel for various City divisions; communicates with the public to provide information and referral; answers emergency calls and other inquiries; performs related duties as required.  Experience in the operation of radio communications equipment desirable but not required.  Must pass psychological evaluation and background investigation; must be bondable.  Inability to pass a basic police and fire communication course and obtain LEADS, NORIS & CCH certifications as directed by the Chief of Police would be grounds for removal.  $21.64 to $26.75 per hour – 7 step pay scale.

NOTICE: As part of the ACLU of Michigan’s efforts to stop racial and religious profiling, particularly at U.S. borders, a hotline and website have been launched to report law enforcement profiling, unreasonable detention at the border and airports, random stops by border patrol agents inland from the border, and seizure of electronic equipment at the border.  The hotline number is 313-578-6832. The website for profiling complaints is located at http://www.aclumich.org/bordercomplaint. This can help document all people who have faced such problems at any Michigan/Canadian border or with FBI or Border Patrol agents inland from the border to contact the ACLU—Mary Bejian, Deputy Director, ACLU of Michigan, 2966 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201.
