First “Día
de los Muertos” musical presented at SQACC highly successful

Sunday, October 23rd 2011 the Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural
Center presented “Día de los Muertos,” a musical in the
style of old-fashion theatre.
Built upon the concept of Lourdes Santiago,
vice-president of SQACC, this is the first musical theatre
performance at the Center under the theatrical direction of
Jo Beth González and the musical direction of Teresa
Linares, who selected and recruited the actresses, actors,
and musicians.
Jo Bethe is the theater teacher at Bowling Green High School and
theater director for 20 years. She informed La Prensa
that she had being involved in organization’s events before but
this is the first time she participated in this type of
activity.
Teresa is a retired music teacher from Toledo Public Schools.
Because of the success of the event, the audience response, and
the interest of the performers and directors, it is anticipated
that future shows will be presented at the Center.

La obra “Día
de los Muertos” se presento en SQACC
El domingo 23 de octubre en el Centro de Arte y Cultura Sofía
Quintero, se presentó “Día de los Muertos” un musical al estilo
de la radio-teatro de lo tiempos pasados. Construido sobre la idea
de Lourdes Santiago, vise-presidente de la organización, esta es la
primera obra de música y teatro que se presenta en el Centro bajo la
dirección teatral de Jo Beth González y dirección musical de
Teresa Linares. Ambas dirigieron respectivas partes,
seleccionaron artistas y músicos, ensayaron con ellos y se unieron
para presentar el producto final.
Jo Beth es profesora de teatro en Bowling Green High School y
directora de teatro por 20 años. Ella dijo a La Prensa que hace
tiempo que está envuelta en las actividades de la organización, pero
esta es la primera vez que realiza una actividad de este tipo y como
voluntaria para el Centro Sofía Quintero.
Teresa es profesora de música retirada de las escuelas de Toledo,
pero aun continua muy envuelta en el ambiente musical.
Dado el éxito, la respuesta del público y el deseo de los artistas,
músicos y directores, cabe la posibilidad que se presenten mas obras
en el futuro.
