Needs Assessment - Report on the Health of Wood County
Bowling Green (09/10/12:
The members of the Wood County Health Partners are
pleased to announce the completion and release of the 2012
Health Assessment. The Health Assessment was a multi-agency
effort to assess current health status and the needs of the
County. An open house will be held to release copies of the
report and to highlight the results. The open house is scheduled
for Tuesday, September 11th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
at the Educational Service Center located at 1867 N. Research
Drive, Bowling Green. Members of the public are welcome to
attend.
This comprehensive Community Health Assessment is the result of
a strong commitment by many dedicated community partners working
together to improve the health and quality of life of Wood
County residents. The health assessment provides a snapshot of
Wood County, the state of Ohio and the nation. “This report will
provide the basis for discussion and action, becoming the
foundation for improving and promoting the health of our
community” said Pam Butler, Health Commissioner.
The data will allow community stakeholders to write better
grants, formulate strong strategic plans and answer a Call to
Action. The aim of completing this project was to provide
valuable information to assist community organizations and
agencies to focus on wellness, improve the general health
status, increase access to services and address unmet needs of
the community. The results from this report may influence
current courses of action and support new areas of interest
within Wood County.
The major supporters of the project were the Wood County Health
District and Wood County Hospital. The assessment was further
enhanced by collaboration with the Wood County ADAMHS Board and
the Wood County Educational Service Center. Many other Wood
County agencies, organizations, schools and individuals provided
input and direction for the project. The process was guided by
the Healthy Communities Foundation of the Hospital Council of
Northwest Ohio.
Copies of the report will be available online at
www.co.wood.oh.us/healthdepartment following the release on
September 11th.
