The Triceratops return much of the roster from last year’s
freshman-filled team, which posted a 5-7-3 record. The lineup is
loaded with electric playmakers and lockdown defenders eager to
claim a postseason invitation.
On the offensive side, the team returns last season’s top
scorer, Adrian Alexander, who found the back of the net 10
times. The Jamaican native and Cleveland Metropolitan School
District graduate also added four assists.
He’ll be joined on the attack by Calvin Brown (Aurora), Armani
Reid (Jamaica) and Timothy Wallace (Seven Hills), among others.
Lockdown defender Warren Simpson — another international student
from Jamaica — helps protect the Tri-C goal. Simpson earned
First Team All-Region XII honors following the 2018 season.
The lightning-quick Joshua Straw of Parma joins Simpson as an
anchor on the back line.
Freshman Quincy Scott will handle goal-keeping duties following
a stellar senior season at Bedford High School, where he allowed
only one goal in 545 minutes while serving as the last line of
The team opens the season Sept. 7 at Ashland University. Tri-C’s
first home game at Western Campus in Parma takes place Sept. 9.

Cross Country Wins Season-Opening Meet
Brown paces the Triceratops with a first-place finish at Daniel
Talk about a fast start.
The Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) cross country
team opened the 2019 season with a victory at the Buffalo State
Daniel Walker Invitational. The four-team meet took place Aug. 31 at
Beaver Island State Park in New York.
Sophomore Hope Brown of Middleburg Heights finished first among all
runners at the invitational with a time of 20:43 on the rolling
Freshman Claudia Mendek (North Royalton) finished close behind to
grab third place. She was followed by sophomore Hannah Heath of
Black River (fifth) and freshmen Hailey Vitolo of Perry (seventh);
Juliet Rayer of North Royalton (ninth) and Kristen
van’t Veer of Ashtabula (10th).
Overall, nine of the first 15 runners to cross the finish line wore
The Triceratops cross country team has qualified for nationals the
past 18 years while building a reputation as one of the nation’s
strongest programs. The team finished 29th in the country
Tri-C travels to Akron’s Firestone Park next weekend to compete in
the University of Akron’s Tommy Evans Invitational. For more
